Who has time to shuffle back and forth to the dentist? With same day dental procedures, you don’t have to! At Mandeville Center for Dental Excellence, we don’t practice reactionary dentistry. We have a conservative philosophy that focuses on prevention and good habits, and we’d love to help you achieve the smile you want.
Dr. Schof uses PlanScan® technology, similar to CEREC®, to restore and protect a broken or damaged tooth quickly and accurately. You will receive a restoration made entirely of high-quality ceramic.
During your procedure, Dr. Schof will use a handheld intraoral scanner to take 3D digital images of your teeth. This information will be used to create a restoration that looks and feels completely natural.
Images of your mouth are sent to the PlanScan CAD/CAM Restoration System® where a digital model of your crown, onlay, or veneer is created. Once it’s ready, it will permanently bonded in place.
If you take care of your restoration, it will last ten to twenty years. Just as with natural teeth, food particles can get trapped beneath your gums or between the crown and adjacent teeth. Brushing and flossing daily, along with regular dental checkups can help prevent decay and periodontal (gum) disease.
Strength tests show that PlanScan crowns are stronger than CEREC, which is one of the reasons Dr. Schof prefers this technology. However, it's important to let us know if you grind or clench your teeth. These habits can shorten the lifespan of any crown, just as they can damage natural teeth. During your appointment, we will offer suggestions to help preserve your crown.
Dr. Schof’s goal is to preserve as much of your tooth as possible. Because of this conservative approach, he rarely needs to place full crowns. Instead, only the damaged parts of the tooth are removed, and a porcelain onlay is used to cover them. Dr. Schof uses his PlanScan® technology to scan your tooth and make a digital model of it. The model is transferred to a porcelain milling machine to make a high-quality, customized onlay. In less than two hours, you can leave our office with a beautifully restored tooth.
Dr. Schof is an artistic dentist who will not only provide you with an onlay or crown that protects your tooth, but one that is beautiful and matches the color, translucency, and characteristics of your natural teeth. He received training in cosmetic dentistry from The Nash Institute for Dental Learning and the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Each year, Dr. Schof participates in continuing education to learn about the latest techniques and technology to give you a healthy, beautiful smile.
